The Story Behind Lato

More than a font family - it's a bridge between the warmth of humanity and the precision of modern design.

Lato (pronounced "LAH-toe") means "summer" in Polish. It was born in the summer of 2010, created by Łukasz Dziedzic in Warsaw. The name reflects the font's warm, friendly character that makes text feel approachable while maintaining professional readability.

What makes Lato special is its semi-rounded details on letters. Unlike purely geometric sans-serifs, Lato has subtle curves that give it humanity. Unlike traditional humanist fonts, it maintains the clarity needed for digital screens and long-form reading.

Used by millions of websites, apps, and print projects, Lato has become one of the most beloved font families of the digital age. From startups to Fortune 500 companies, designers choose Lato when they need typography that's both professional and human.
