We have just released Lato version 1.104.
With the release of version 1.103 over a week ago, I wrote:
We decided to “split” the release. The fonts intended for people to download and use in desktop applications were to be FontLab-autohinted while the fonts that should be deployed at Google Web Fonts should use ttfautohint.
Version 1.104 makes the splitting unnecessary. Now we just have one common version which works well everywhere: it renders nicely in Windows grayscale, Windows ClearType, Mac OS X, iOS and in Adobe applications. We’ve helped Werner Lemberg to fix the bugs in ttfautohint, so it is no longer “ttfautoshred”, and we could use it to produce version 1.104.
You can download version 1.104 by clicking on the download link on the right of this page. Enjoy!
The Download link currently goes to the old, Web version.
Fixed?
Mam problem z waszą czcionką.
Warianty normal i blod wyglądają w ten sposób: http://4img.pl/images/exujxjfu0gy7ybfay43.jpg http://4img.pl/images/yjz82ca4f06w2uivkpxo.jpg
Thin i hairline wyglądają normalnie.
Spotkaliście się z czymś takim?
System to Arch Linux x64, najnowszy skompilowany fontconfig i libfreetype.
Kamil, wygląda na to, że masz lokalnie zainstalowaną wersję wcześniejszą niż 1.0.4. Ściągnij jeszcze raz, starą usuń.
How long until this is available at Google Fonts?
One year. Lato debuted in December 2010.
Please fix the link – it downloads version 1.0.3. Can’t find the new release anywhere, and 1.0.3 is not printing correctly out of Adobe Photoshop.
JEN!
I uploaded zip file from http://www.latofonts.com/download/LatoOFL.zip and checked version. Everything seems to be OK. Maybe you have to uninstall old version, clean font cache… It’s strange
Where exactly is wrong link?
Hi Łukasz and Adam,
please upload the new version of Lato to Google Webfonts. They still have a corrupted version (though Windows says its v.1.104)
The file “Lato-Regular.ttf” from Google is 120936 bytes, the “Lato-Reg.ttf” from the zip available here is 120196 bytes.
Thank you!
Hi Adam, Hi Łukasz,
the Lato Fonts at Google’s webfont collection are still the wrong ones. If you download from there, the version number says 1.104 but the files are identical to the old defect files. The “real” v. 1.104 is the one you offer in the zip here. These files are different from the ones found at Google.
Could you please put the files you have here also on Google?
I’m not sure many people will make the effort to find a corrected version when they see the font breaking in Adobe Illustrator or InDesign.
Keep up the good work!
Hi Łukasz and Adam,
Google Webfonts still has the broken Lato. If you get it from there, Windows says it’s version 1.104, but the files are not the same as the ones in the Zip that you have for download here.
Please send the correct version also to Google Webfonts. It would be a shame if people couldn’t use Lato in Adobe products.
Keep up the good work!
“Where exactly is wrong link?“
At Google Webfonts… They still have the corrupt files! Compare the file sizes.
Dziękuję
Hi, Google still has the defective version. Try it in Indesign or Illustrator.
Should be OK. Today I downloaded Lato 1.104 from Google. There was some problem with Google repository.
Enjoy!
